With the general election set to take place on 8 June, there will be plenty of debating going on in households all over the UK. Why not join in? Debating gives you a chance to discuss interesting issues, share opinions and make your voice heard. In an organised debate (at school, for example) two teams will be given a topic and told whether they have to argue for or against the question (called a motion). Each side prepares a speech and has a set length of time to speak. The two sides take it in turns, giving the ideas they have prepared and responding to what the other side have said.
