A mind-reading breakthrough

Scientists have developed a way to read minds, translating unspoken thoughts into written words in real-time. It’s the first time it’s been done without having to put anything into the brain, and the team used artificial intelligence (AI). AI is the name given to a computer system that is able to “think” for itself and perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. These include solving problems, making decisions, learning and reasoning. Scientists at the University of Texas, in the US, used an fMRI scanner. The machine uses a magnetic field to see where blood flows, which reveals the parts of the brain that are most active.
