Seahorse

Researchers have discovered that seahorses have a very powerful gulp, which helps them catch their prey. They have no teeth but they use two tendons (rope-like body tissue) that act like springs and quickly suck in water. At the same time, they tilt their heads to suck up their prey. LIFESPAN IN THE WILD: One to five years. HABITAT: Shallow tropical waters in the ocean, in seagrass beds and coral reefs. SIZE: Between 1.5 and 35 centimetres long. DIET: Small crustaceans, such as plankton or shrimp. FUN FACT: Seahorses don’t have stomachs, so they must eat constantly to survive and grow. One seahorse can eat up to 3,000 brine shrimp in a day.…
