Yasmeen Lari, an architect (someone who designs buildings) from Pakistan, has just won the Royal Gold Medal, an award for helping others. At first Lari designed hotels and office buildings but she found it boring and felt guilty about the environmental impact of the materials she was using. She started to focus on people affected by disasters such as earthquakes, who need to rebuild their homes. She has been helping people since 2005, using natural materials in her work. Her latest project is to rebuild one million homes within two years to help those affected by Pakistan’s floods in 2022.
