The Big Help Out

On 8 May, six million people across the UK took part in a scheme called The Big Help Out. Supported by Buckingham Palace, it aimed to encourage people to volunteer in their communities. In Bedfordshire, volunteers cleared weeds on a giant chalk lion carved into a hillside. In Shropshire, around 40 helpers planted an orchard of apple, plum, pear and damson trees to provide fruit in the future. In Bonnybridge, Scotland, the Girl Guides took part in litter picking.…
