Xi has been president of China since 2013. During his time in power, China has funded huge projects in many other countries through its “Belt and Road Initiative”. This is a project linking Asia with Africa and Europe. China has also become a world leader in making electric cars. However, Xi’s ruling style has been strongly criticised. Many experts say he has punished people who oppose him to strengthen his own power.
