Doctors say adults should do 150 minutes of physical activity every week – a little bit every day. However, dancing for just 20 minutes every day could be just as good for you as running or other types of exercise, according to a new study. The study, which was carried out by scientists at Northeastern University in Boston, US, invited 48 adult volunteers into the laboratory. There they were asked to dance in any style they wanted. Scientists call this “free-form dancing”. The volunteers were asked to dance in short, five-minute bursts (about the length of one or two songs) after which they had their heart rate and oxygen levels measured.
