The wolves of Yellowstone

In 1995, grey wolves were brought back to Yellowstone National Park, which is mostly in Wyoming, US. They had been hunted to extinction in the area but scientists have realised they help the park. Since 1995, the wolves have reduced the number of elk (a type of large deer), which eat young plants. That has allowed trees beside rivers to flourish, and beavers have used the trees to build dams. These dams in turn have created new habitats, supporting fish and otters.…
