Should animals be recreated?

What Colossal is attempting to achieve is known as “de-extinction”. The company argues that woolly mammoths, which lived alongside humans for thousands of years, belong on the planet. They say that creating a similar type of animal could combat climate change, but not everyone thinks this is a good idea. Elephants are sociable, so the first of the new creatures could be lonely. Critics also worry that the changes that work in mice might not be healthy for elephants, so the animals may suffer.
