Emu A team of researchers from the University of Bristol have found that emus are clever enough to solve tricky problems. Some of the birds were given a task where they had to move a turning wheel so that it lined up with a hole to release a food reward. Nine out of 10 times the emus turned the wheel in the right direction. • LIFESPAN: Five to 10 years. • HABITAT: Eucalyptus forests, heathland, shrubland and woodland in Australia. • SIZE: Around 1.75 metres tall. • DIET: Flowers, fruits, insects, leaves and seeds. • FUN FACT: Although emus can’t fly, they can run up to 30 miles per hour.…
