Astronauts on the ISS are orbiting the Earth, which means they experience “microgravity”. This means gravity (the force that keeps your feet on the ground) isn’t as strong. Bones and muscles don’t have to do as much work to support the body’s weight, which means they get weaker over time. Astronauts must do exercise every day to tackle this. Microgravity can cause blood to float up into an astronaut’s head, which squashes their eyeballs over time and affects their eyesight. Travelling in space can also make skin more sensitive. Some astronauts say when they get back to Earth their clothes feel scratchy, like sandpaper.…
