Rare art found in family home

A family in France learnt that a valuable piece of art had been hanging behind their door since 1900. The picture, which is called L’Avocat du village (“The Village Lawyer”), was painted by Pieter Brueghel the Younger more than 400 years ago. It is estimated to be worth around £700,000. It’s value was only discovered when the family decided to see how much their other art might be worth. Malo de Lussac, the expert who identified the painting, said, “They thought it was a copy; just a bit of decoration that wasn’t worth very much.”…
