Trees are tops

It’s time to celebrate the 2023 International Day of Forests.

If you’ve ever wanted to go out and hug a tree, 21 March would be a great time to do it. That’s because it’s the International Day of Forests. It was first held in 2012, launched by the United Nations (an organisation of 193 countries that work together on the challenges that face humanity) as an annual celebration of the importance of forests and trees to our planet. The United Nations’ official website (tinyurl.com/TWJ-UNForests) tells you more about the day, including this year’s theme:“Forests and Health”. It’s about how forests create clean air and water, fight climate change, provide humans with food and medicines, and boost people’s wellbeing.
