The UK Parliament is debating whether to pass a law that would make breathing clean air a human right. This would mark the 10-year anniversary of the death of Ella Kissi-Debrah, the first person in the UK officially to die of air pollution. In the UK, around 36,000 people die of air pollution every year. Campaigners argue that by passing this law, people will be able to challenge polluters and improve air quality across the UK. Opponents question the impact of a law like this. They say the Government should be encouraging change, rather than trying to force it.
