Athletes battle for indoor titles

On 22 and 23 February, athletes and para athletes (those with a disability or impairment) from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland took part at the UK Athletics Indoor Championships at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England. National titles were won in 15 events, including sprinting, hurdles, high jump and shot put. The youngest winner at the competition was 17-year-old Otis Poole. He won gold in the men’s high jump with a height of 2.20 metres. Before the championships his best performance was 2.09 metres. “I have school tomorrow so no real time to celebrate,” Poole joked after his surprise success.
