The Temple of Mithras

The Temple of Mithras was discovered in 1954 in the City of London. It was built around 1,800 years ago and the Romans used it to worship the god Mithras – a mysterious figure known as the bull-slayer. After its discovery, the temple was moved to a nearby street, where it was displayed for about 55 years. Eventually, it was moved back to its original site, beneath the European headquarters of the company Bloomberg. In 2017 it was named the London Mithraeum and opened to the public.…
