Penguin hero wins prize

A penguin expert who has helped to protect more than 2.5 million of the birds has won 2023’s Indianapolis Prize, which is given to people who do outstanding work for animals. Dr Pablo Borboroglu, from Argentina, is the first ever South American winner of the award. Known as “The Penguin Protector”, his achievements include founding the Global Penguin Society in 2009, an organisation set up to protect penguins and their habitats. The winner of the Indianapolis Prize is awarded nearly £200,000, which Borboroglu says will be used in his work. “This is a dream,” he told BBC Science Focus magazine.…
