Welsh festival rules criticised

Sage Todz, a popular musician who raps in both the English and Welsh languages, has announced that he won’t be performing at the National Eisteddfod festival this year because of its Welsh language rules. The National Eisteddfod is an event held in the first week of August every year to celebrate Welsh arts, culture and language. It has been happening for hundreds of years, since 1176. There is also an extension to the main festival called Maes B, where Welsh-language singers and bands perform music. Traditionally, the festival has a policy (general rule) that means performances can only be done in “Cymraeg” – the Welsh language. Sage Todz is bilingual.
