Canada’s wildfires

Wildfires (large uncontrolled fires that spread quickly through bushes or woodlands) are common in Canada. Human carelessness or natural events like lightning can start them. There are around 8,000 wildfires every year in Canada, which burn an average of 25,000 square kilometres. This year, there have already been more than 2,000 fires and scientists have predicted that this could be Canada’s worst year on record for wildfires. Whole communities are often moved for their safety, leaving behind their homes, which are sometimes burned down. So far this year, more than 100,000 people have already left their homes.…
