Christo coming to London

Christo is an artist famous for creating super-sized sculptures. Before his wife Jeanne-Claude died in 2009, they worked together on 23 projects, including wrapping a bridge in Paris and Berlin’s Reichstag (the German parliament building) in plastic fabric. Christo and Jeanne-Claude were born on the same day in 1935. Christo was born in Bulgaria and Jeanne-Claude was born in Morocco. Christo, who is 83 years old, is carrying on their work and is currently building a 20-metre-tall sculpture out of oil drums that will be placed on the Serpentine lake in Hyde Park, London. It will contain 7,506 oil drums that will be stacked together. The work is called Mastaba, which means bench in ancient Arabic.
