Ape uses a plant “plaster”

Researchers have seen an ape in Asia heal itself with plants too. In 2022 in Indonesia, an orangutan was observed using a plant to heal a nasty wound on his face. The orangutan, named Rakus, ripped off the leaves of a plant named akar kuning, chewed on them and spent several minutes applying the juice to his wound. He then covered the wound with the chewed-up leaves. Akar kuning is known to relieve pain and fight infections, and is used by local people. After five days, Rakus’s wound had healed up.…
