How do red pandas go down trees head-first?

Red pandas spend a lot of time in trees as this is a safe place for them to nap and rest in the day. Their agility and flexible bodies help them cope with tight spaces and oddly shaped branches. Sharp claws give them a tight grip for climbing up and down, and they also have a specially adapted thumb-like wrist bone that helps them grasp branches and trunks – even when they are going down head-first.
