Climate protesters jailed

Five protesters have been jailed for up to five years each for organising a protest that blocked an important motorway. In court, the judge said that Roger Hallam, Daniel Shaw, Louise Lancaster, Lucia Whittaker De Abreu and Cressida Gethin had “crossed the line” by bringing chaos to roads in November 2022. The group are part of the Just Stop Oil climate campaign, and the sentences are believed to be the longest given to peaceful protesters in the UK.…
