Refugees ready for Olympic show

When the Olympics begin in Tokyo, Japan, on 23 July, more than 11,000 athletes will be taking part. They will compete for well-known nations such as Australia, France, Great Britain and the US, but 29 of them have a different story. This small but special group will not represent a country but will form the Refugee Olympic Team. A refugee is a person forced to leave their own country because of war, a natural disaster or the threat of violence. Refugees must make a new life in a new country and often face many problems. There are millions around the world. The International Olympic Committee (IOC), the group that organises the event, wants refugees to be represented.
