The drinking straw that cures the hiccups

A newly invented drinking straw can cure the hiccups. The L-shaped straw has a mouthpiece at one end and an adjustable cap on the other. Hiccups happen when signals from two nerves that control your body’s breathing and swallowing reflexes get confused. The straw needs more suction than usual to drink through, and the extra bit of effort in sucking and swallowing helps to keep these nerves occupied. In a study, researchers found that the straw successfully stopped hiccups in 92% of cases. Enjoy these stories?
