7 February 2005 Ellen MacArthur completes her voyage It has been 20 years since sailor Ellen MacArthur completed her record solo voyage around the world. She set off from Cowes, Isle of Wight, on 28 November 2004 and finished her journey in Ushant, France, having sailed over 27,000 miles in 71 days, 14 hours and 18 minutes. She broke the previous record by over a day. She went on to set up a charity promoting a circular economy (where products and materials are reused to protect the environment).…
