Minnesota, US Cheap painting could be lost Van Gogh Analysis of a painting bought for £40 at a garage sale has revealed it could be by the famous Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. The painting shows a fisherman, and it is based on another piece of artwork by Danish artist Michael Ancher. Researchers analysed the piece for several years, and the type of paint and canvas used suggested it was by Van Gogh. They also found a hair caught in the paint but it was too old to test whether it came from the artist.
