Teaching black writers’ work

A new project is aiming to improve the teaching of literature by black British writers in schools. Lit Legacies, led by Amy Saleh, a lecturer at the University of the West of England, is providing resources such as lesson plans and quizzes to help pupils study Princess & The Hustler by Chinonyerem Odimba. The play is set during the Bristol Bus Boycott in 1963, when people refused to ride on buses because bus companies wouldn’t hire black people.…
