Sinner’s Grand Slam success

On 28 January, Jannik Sinner celebrated his first Grand Slam tennis title with victory at the Australian Open. Along with Wimbledon, the US Open and the French Open, the Australian Open is one of the four biggest tennis competitions each year. They are “Grand Slam” events. Sinner, who is 22 and comes from Italy, defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev to win the men’s final. Medvedev won the first two sets at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, but Sinner fought back to secure the next three sets and lift the trophy. In tennis, each set is won by the first player to win six games.
