Roman armour jigsaw completed

A reconstructed 1,800-year-old arm guard that once protected an ancient Roman soldier will go on display in one piece for the first time. The armour was discovered in 1906 at a ruined fort called Trimontium in southern Scotland. Broken into more than 100 jigsaw-like pieces, it has only just been put back together by experts from National Museums Scotland (NMS). They think two others exist from the whole Roman empire but this is the only complete one made of brass. Dr Fraser Hunter from NMS says the brass would have looked golden and “spectacular”. He thinks it would have belonged to an important centurion (army officer).
