Do birds have noses?

Birds have nostrils but they don’t have a nose. Their nostrils are called “nares”. Some birds don’t have a very good sense of smell; instead they use their eyes to find bright, ripe fruits. The birds that scavenge (search for dead food rather than hunt it themselves), such as vultures, do have a good sense of smell. They have adapted so they can smell food even over long distances.
