Highlighting diversity

Growing up in Texas, US, Saawan Duvvuri said he was often one of the only people of colour in his classroom. He also noticed that there weren’t many people like him in his school textbooks. In 2023, when he was 16 years old, Duvvuri set up an organisation called Literature Diversified to address these problems in education. He also worked on issues faced by other groups who don’t feel they are always fairly treated or well represented. Literature Diversified has since developed more than 450 educational resources and reached 12,700 students worldwide. Duvvuri has already received important awards for his work to make society fairer.…
