Mané shoots Senegal to success

Sadio Mané has already won football’s Premier League and the Champions League playing for his club, Liverpool. On 6 February he also became a hero for his country, Senegal, by scoring a dramatic penalty in a shootout to win the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon). Afcon is the biggest international football tournament in Africa. It’s contested by 24 countries and is usually held every two years. Senegal played Egypt in the final, which was held in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Mané actually missed a penalty in the seventh minute and the match went on to finish 0-0 at full-time. After 30 minutes of extra time, the game was still goalless, so a penalty shootout was needed to decide the champions. After both teams had taken four penalties, Senegal held a 3-2 lead.…
