In New York, US, 23 sculptures made from unopened food cans popped up in a shopping centre between 31 October and 11 November. The sculptures included Squirtle from Pokémon, a melting ice cream and a peckish pigeon, and were created by architects and engineers (experts who design and construct buildings). In exchange for seeing the sculptures, visitors were asked to donate one can of unopened food. Every year in cities across the US, people make sculptures using cans as part of a competition. It’s organised by a charity called Canstruction, which then donates all the cans of food to food banks (where groceries are given out to people who are struggling to afford enough to eat). Last year, the cans that were donated to Canstruction added up to £133,000 worth…
