Carnaby’s cockatoos are one of the world’s longest-living birds, scientists recently revealed. The researchers have been studying a bird colony in Coomallo Creek, Western Australia, since 1969. One of the endangered birds was found to be 35 years old when it was last photographed in 2021 and eight others have lived beyond 21 years. ● LIFESPAN: Up to 35 years – possibly more – in the wild. ● HABITAT: Native woodlands with eucalyptus trees in parts of Western Australia. ● SIZE: About 55 centimetres. ● DIET: Mostly seeds, sometimes nectar and insect larvae. ● FUN FACT: Female Carnaby’s cockatoos have white beaks and males have black beaks.…
