The dancing star of The Snowman

Stanley Williams is flying high in the festive show.

Dancer Stanley Williams, 11, is playing the role of “The Boy” in The Snowman, Raymond Briggs’s classic children’s story about a snowman who comes to life. The musical stage show is on at the Peacock Theatre in London. This is Stanley’s third year in the show but before he got the part he had never been on stage. Stanley grew up doing ballet, tap and contemporary dance, and it was his parents, who used to be professional ballet dancers, who suggested that he try for it. In auditions (performances to try out for a role), Stanley had to practise scenes from the show, such as throwing a snowball and making the character’s facial expressions.
