UK plans for clean energy future

On 13 December, the UK Government set out its plan to achieve a “clean” energy system by 2030. Clean power comes from energy sources such as solar and wind, which produce low levels of carbon dioxide, a gas that warms the planet. What’s in the plan? The Government hopes that, by 2030, Britain’s clean energy sources will be generating at least as much power as people in Britain are using. In the plan, the Government wants to give ministers powers to approve large onshore wind farms – groups of wind turbines on land.
