A cover to celebrate

Find out how the judges chose this year’s winning entry.

Thank you to everyone who entered our Christmas cover competition. We received more than 1,500 entries and the job of judging them was incredibly tough. The judges were illustrator Tom Clohosy Cole, with The Week Junior’s editorial director Anna Bassi, editor Vanessa Harriss, art director Dave Kelsall and picture editor Mandy Rowson. Henry designed the winning cover, a very jolly Santa. Anna said, “Henry’s painting is a fantastic festive delight – it makes me smile every time I see it.” Tom said it just filled him with joy, adding that “The dabs of colour bring richness and warmth, which I love.” Mandy called it “an exceptionally skilful painting – Santa really pops on the page!” Vanessa commented, “My eyes just kept being drawn back to this one.
