Venus Express

Venus Express was the first European Space Agency (ESA) mission to study Venus. It set off from Earth in 2005 and arrived above Venus in 2006. It spent more than eight years studying the planet before contact with it was lost in 2014. In that time, it made some very interesting discoveries, including that the gases carbon dioxide and oxygen glow in Venus’s atmosphere and that the planet has lightning – and lots of it. “There may be as much lightning on Venus as there is on Earth,” said Chris Russell, one of the scientists who helped gather data from Venus Express.…
