Our cover star is a firm reader favourite, Sir David Attenborough, and he has been rewarded for his work for nature and The Wildlife Trusts (page 5). I love the wildlife-themed cake the team presented to him. We’ve got some wonderful animal stories in this issue too. On page 6 there is the happy story of Charlie the elephant, released at last and settling in with some wild elephant pals. Animal friends can’t get much closer than penguin pair Sphen and Magic (page 7). When Sphen died recently, Magic began to sing – and the other gentoo penguins joined in.
