Sir David given special medal

On 22 August, Sir David Attenborough, the famous TV presenter and naturalist (someone who studies animals and plant life), was given a special award for his service to The Wildlife Trusts, a group of charities. The Rothschild medal was presented to him at a ceremony at Crane Park Island Nature Reserve, London. A wildlife-themed cake was made for the occasion, and Attenborough scattered some wildflower seeds after receiving the medal. The Wildlife Trusts is made up of 46 charities around the UK. Together, they work to protect nature, including looking after more than 2,600 nature reserves. The Rothschild medal is named after Charles Rothschild and his daughter, Miriam.
