Learnji iOS (£1.99) If you’re looking to boost your language-learning skills, there is a growing number of apps that can help. Learnji is the latest, and its unique feature is the way it tries to teach you vocabulary using emojis. There are more than 1,200 emojis, sorted into categories including Holidays, Food and Drink, and Professions. You start by choosing a language from a list that includes French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, then choose a category and start swiping through the emojis to see their translations. You can hide or show the definitions whenever you like, which is good for checking your growing vocabulary. There’s also an option to text friends to test their knowledge.
