Smart fridge camera

The average family in the UK bins around £700 worth of food every year. The most thrown-away food item is salad bags: a total of around 37,000 tonnes of it is chucked out. To help reduce food waste, a company called Smarter has created a smart fridge camera that can keep an eye on the food inside and alert users when it is going off. Working with an app, the camera monitors the use-by dates of products in a fridge, and also sends reminders for users to top up on essential food. Company founder, Christian Lane, said the app “also encourages people to shop in a smarter and more efficient way.”…
