Trump causes outrage

On 12 August, there were violent clashes between white supremacist groups and anti-racism protesters in the city of Charlottesville in Virginia in the US, which left one woman dead. Many people were outraged that President Donald Trump failed to condemn the white supremacist groups immediately. White supremacists believe that white people are better than all other races. They were angry about plans to remove a statue of General Robert E. Lee. Lee fought on the side of the Confederates in the American Civil War, from 1861 to 1865. The Confederate side wanted to keep slavery in America, which is why many people today want Confederate symbols removed. However, white supremacists say that this will wipe out some of US history.
