24 August 1967 Penguins cool off at London ice rink On 24 August 1967, Rocky and Clementine the Rockhopper penguins were transported from their home at Chessington Zoo to an ice rink in London, after zoo workers became worried that the weather was too hot for them. After waddling onto the ice, the penguins seemed to enjoy themselves and the cool temperatures (much closer to those of their native home in the Falkland Islands). The ice rink were so pleased they invited the zoo’s 20 other penguins too.…
