This year’s national rail strike is the biggest in the UK for 30 years. It has led to disruption on trains across the country and people haven’t been able to get to work, school or their holiday destination. All sorts of workers strike – including postal workers, hospital staff, teachers, university staff, lawyers and rubbish collectors – for many different reasons. They may want better pay, or to protect colleagues from losing their jobs, or to have a safer working environment. They may also be protesting if some workers are treated unfairly.
