16 August 1930 The first colour cartoon with sound Released 94 years ago, Fiddlesticks was the first colour cartoon to be shown with its own soundtrack. It was made by Ub Iwerks, a famous animator who created a character called Flip the Frog, who appears in the cartoon. The story is about Flip hosting a performance in a forest for woodland animals, including a mouse that looks very similar to Disney’s Mickey Mouse.
