UK’s hottest day of the year

Much of the UK experienced a heatwave this week as soaring temperatures affected parts of England and Wales. A heatwave in the UK happens when temperatures are unusually high for at least three days. The Met Office, which monitors the UK’s weather, declared Monday 12 August to be the hottest day of the year so far. Temperatures in Cambridgeshire, England, reached 34.8° C. The weather was so warm in parts of eastern England that yellow heat health alerts were issued.
