Rowers complain about sewage

Rowers from the University of Oxford have complained about sewage in the River Thames, London, following their annual boat race against the University of Cambridge on 30 March. This came after new Government figures showed that the amount of raw sewage released into seas and rivers in England and Wales has reached record levels. What happened? Before the boat race, an organisation called River Action UK warned rowers to avoid contact with water from the River Thames. It also advised them to cancel the tradition of throwing a member of the winning team into the water.
