Court orders Israel to let more aid into Gaza

On 28 March, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to take all action necessary to allow aid into Gaza to help the people there. The ICJ is a court run by the United Nations, a group made up of most of the world’s countries that works to promote peace. A long-running conflict between Israel and Hamas, a group based in Gaza that is called a terrorist organisation by many countries including the UK, got much worse in October. As a result of the fighting, people in Gaza cannot get hold of basic supplies. Aid groups have said Israel is not allowing enough aid into Gaza. Israel denies this.
